Classic Car Tours in South Africa: What to Expect

A classic car tour is not a race. It is a multi-day drive built around good roads, interesting destinations and the people you travel with. Cars run at a touring pace, days are planned around comfortable driving distances, and evenings are as much a part of the experience as the driving.

How a tour is structured

Most multi-day tours follow the same rhythm: a briefing and welcome the night before, a set route each day with coffee and lunch stops, and a dinner where the day gets replayed around the table.

  • A route book or daily route instructions
  • Overnight accommodation booked as part of the entry
  • Organised dinners and social evenings
  • Support along the route for mechanical issues

Choosing the right tour for your car

Daily distance matters more than total distance. A car that is happy at 90 km/h will enjoy a tour built around 250 to 350 km days far more than one built around long transit stages. Ask the organiser for the daily distances and the road surfaces before you enter.

Touring with MS Promoters
